Looking for the next level of Minecraft challenge? Redstone allows you to build electronic circuits to activate and control mechanisms, from simple light switches to complex automated farms and in-game computers. Students will learn how to affect the speed and distance of redstone signals, use logic gates, multi-system mechanisms, clocks and more. Another advanced feature, commands, are code that instructs Minecraft to take certain actions. Command blocks allow you to group together a series of commands. Image a command block that allows you to build an entire building with one click! Students will start simply and then progress to advanced features such as variables, conditions, and if/then statements. Redstone and commands bring together electrical engineering, computing, and automation in a world that kids love: Minecraft!

General Information
  • Level: Intermediate | Prerequisites: Any Minecraft level 3
  • Software Required for Virtual: Zoom, Minecraft (Java edition $26.95 extra fee)
  • Other Tech Requirements for Virtual: Windows or Mac computer, or a Chromebook that supports Linux.
  • Result: More complex Minecraft world builds using advanced redstone and command features.
